Summer is Here: 5 Fun Things to Do as a Local in Las Vegas

summer activities in las vegas for locals

Las Vegas gets a bad rap as a city built for the tourists, but that’s not entirely true. The sprawling city that we call home offers attractions for all ages, all around the valley. Gambling and boozing is all well and good, but sometimes you get a bit bored as a local. With summer rolling around, you might be looking for something to occupy your time in a way that gets you out of the house and out of the heat – which is why our Las Vegas remodeling team put together a list of the top 5 fun things to do as a local in Las Vegas!

  1. Trampoline Parks

We know, you laughed and rolled your eyes at our #5 pick. But the truth is that you really cannot have any expression other than a smile while bouncing around a room made of trampolines. Vegas has an uncommon amount of trampoline parks (all indoors, fortunately), and many of them offer additional fun in the way of rock climbing walls, foam pits, and obstacle courses. Kids are always welcome in these oversized bounce houses, and parents can relax and grab some food if they’re not in the mood to bounce.

  1. The Las Vegas 51s

The Vegas Golden Knights season is over for now, but you don’t need to retire your sports hype. The locals favorite, the Las Vegas 51s, is open for business and packing the Cashman Center with its’ team spirit. Our AAA baseball team and it’s mascot, Cosmo, bring cold beer, giant hot dogs, and great baseball plays to Las Vegas at the low cost of $10 per ticket. The best part? Most of their games start at 7:00 p.m. so you won’t need to worry about packing sunblock.

  1. First Friday

Walking around Downtown Las Vegas at night has never been safer. Las Vegas’ Arts District boasts one of the largest recurring arts festivals in the United States every first Friday of the month. Food trucks, bars, and of course local artists crowd the streets in vintage Vegas to display their creativity. You can pick up local artwork for your home, watch a street performance, and grab a specialty drink without taking more than 15 steps.

  1. Meet The Mob

Okay, so you won’t actually shake hands with the ghost of Bugsy Siegel, but the Mob Museum in Downtown Las Vegas will show you a side of Vegas’ history you’ve previously only heard whispers about. The museum features exhibits on organized crime and its involvement in Vegas’ formation, as well as interactive experiences that delve deep into how those gangsters were caught. For a date night, check out their underground speakeasy – but, of course, you’ll need the password.

  1. Check Out Some Lions

MGM Grand doesn’t offer it’s lion exhibit anymore, but that just means that you don’t have to pay for parking to see them. The Lion Habitat, located on the edge of Las Vegas, is home to over 40 lions and a few pairs of giraffes. There are programs that allow you to feed, be photographed with, or even learn to be a trainer for the magnificent creatures without needing to travel to a jungle.
